Matthew 11:29 (NKJV)
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Halifax is a lovely city with pleasing shops and marvelously fresh sea breezes easing the bright sunny days (those that they have). Right in the midst of the town is a park that is nearly perfectly designed. It furnishes just the right amount of expanse to ease the pressure of the energetic city around it and one can take a lunch break, sit in a shady nook and simply let the stress slide off the nerves. We need those kind of places... both for our physical and our spiritual lives.
Jesus promises and delivers just that place, .... in His own person. He offers Himself when the pressure builds up and Satan's attacks are incessant. He says "come to Me'"... lean on Me... learn from Me. I am what you need. I am who you need. I and My Father are One and as such I have the infinite resources to establish My Kingdom and open your eyes to the blessings that are found only therein. I can put your troubles into perspective and show you victory in the face of apparent defeat. There are no lost motions, no senseless wild-goose chases, no fruitless waste in My service. I cause all things to work together for good for those who love me and are called according to My purpose. Come to me... find your rest... find the gentle comfort of my yoke.
My hand is light on the reins. I bring healing in My wings. I open up resourcess in you that you never knew you possessed and provide avenues of significant service that you never noticed being present. "Rest" in My kingdom is not inactivity. "Rest" in My kingdom is the energizing renewal that fills us with zeal and expands the limits of our understanding. "Rest" is tapping into My creative, reconciling Person and you will find your rest in Me or you will lack it altogether.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. All authority in heaven and earth are given into my hand and I am even now tearing down the strongholds of oppression that have burdened your soul and millions others like you.
Come to me... rest in me... It is to this end that I have called you. Come, faithful servant, and enter into your rest.
