The Mission to the World (MTW) committee is the primary missionary sending and coordinating entity in our denomination. It is always encouraging to hear of our denominational work around the world and that is the scope of it. Our missionary outreach is extraordinary for our relative size. MTW recruits missionaries, sees to their training, oversees their placement, provides for their continued on site support and supervision. They are a tremendously important committee.
This year the chairman reported with tears that this past year it had come to light that there were reports of unacceptable situations and treatments of some of the female staff members. The chairman reported the prompt and extensive actions that were taken to identify and address these issues. An independent organization was contracted to investigate the overall operation of the committee and that the recommendations and conclusions were aggressively implemented.
This is how Christian organizations should deal with the discovery of sin. It was openly confessed and sincere repentance evidenced. There was no hint of seeking to suppress the facts. Though it was a sad thing yet the work of the Spirit was evidenced.
