I'm writing this while I wait at the airport for my first connecting flight home. I'm ready. Yesterday's session went until after midnight last night. I've been running on about 5 1/2 hours of sleep a night and I am not alone. The planning for this GA was entirely unsatisfactory. We should not be acting on important issues with blurry eyed commissioners who got pretty grumpy as the hours kept piling up.
That said, we did some good work before we closed for the evening.
We passed a resolution that affirmed the "Nashville Statement" as a public proclamation of our essential position regarding questions on homosexuality. We affirmed "The Gospel and Sexual Attraction" as stating a position that is in conformity with our theological and ministerial objectives and helpful for ministry in Christ's Church. (I was the one who wrote the motion that was passed.... ahem... he says humbly). We established a study committee to build a PCA specific set of guidelines and aids for further ministry.
These are just a few of the things we packed into a grueling day. I am ready to come home. My flights could not be changed so I had to leave but the GA is still going on. I pray that these two guys will have the strength to bear up.
